Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor from Denmark. He was in the role of Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) as well as the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011, aged of 27. In 1995, he was admitted to the National Theatre School of Denmark. In addition to his part in the drama series aired worldwide as The Killing,[1] he subsequently appeared in two more internationally acclaimed Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also had a leading role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American television series House of Cards, he was the president of Russia. In 2018, he received an International Emmy Award for his character in the Danish television drama Herrensveje. It aired in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019.
