Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on the 22nd of March, 1976. A recipient of various awards which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award as well as an Emmy Award, Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she is regularly ranked as one of the highest-paid actors in the world. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015, and Forbes listed her as one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2021 and 2019. In 1999, Witherspoon made her breakthrough with the character of the supporting actor in Cruel Intentions. She was also known for playing Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. She was recognized for her role as Elle Woods in the comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its 2003 sequel, and for starring in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002). Her work was critically acclaimed, and she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash, in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a slump in her career that included Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box-office hit, Witherspoon decided to make a comeback and produce and play Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). The film resulted in her receiving a second Academy Award nomination in the category of Best Actress. Since then, she's been primarily involved in television productions, and has appeared in several female-led literary adaptations. They include Big Little Lies (2017-2018), The Morning Show (2019-20), as well as Little Fires Everywhere (2020) and all HBO drama series.
