Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop artists: one who was able to successfully cross the divide between country and pop, conquering the globe. Swift let go of the influences from her country music in the sense that they had been added as an extra layer of skin, revealing she was among the most talented singers/songwriters in the generation she was born into. Swift could make the occasion personal, or use it for her benefit. Swift's early tracks like the Neotribute for Tim McGraw were a testament of her ability. The second album Fearless from 2008 showed a songwriter finding her voice, and also a larger public. The album was hugely successful and not just in the US and six of the singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also smashed records across the globe. Swift managed to build upon her progress by releasing Speak Now almost two year later. In the three albums that followed the three albums that followed -- Red 2012, 1989 2014 as well as Reputation 2017 -- Swift's success only grew. It was a clear sign she had moved to an entirely new world of pop where she fit in. She stayed on top of the charts until she reverted to her signature style in her twin albums, folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
