Lee Roy Selmon's life is a combination of football scholarship, family work as well as community involvement. The first line of his family was that he's the youngest out of nine kids who were raised within Eufala by Lucious Selmon. In football, he played alongside three brothers in Oklahoma. All three became All-America. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. In his time as Oklahoma's starting quarterback and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded a scholarship for the third time in 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work throughout his time at college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers were an all-pro three times before beginning a business career. By 1988, he became an Account Representative at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he played for the team of 1975. He was promoted to the associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
